A simple electric scooter maintenance checklist
Electric scooters remove engine oil and spark plugs, but they still need attention. A few regular checks protect range, braking and battery health.
An electric scooter has fewer routine engine service items than a petrol scooter. That is not the same as having no maintenance. Tyres, brakes, suspension and electrical connections live close to dust, water and rough roads. Small checks catch problems before they turn into range loss or a roadside stop.
Before riding
- Look for visibly low tyre pressure, cuts or embedded objects.
- Squeeze both brakes and confirm the feel is firm and predictable.
- Check headlights, brake light, indicators and horn.
- Make sure the charging port cover is closed.
- Confirm the side stand returns correctly and its sensor behaves as expected.
Every few weeks
Measure tyre pressure when the tyres are cold and follow the manufacturer's recommendation. Inspect brake pads or shoes, check for wheel play and listen for scraping. A dragging brake or soft tyre reduces range as well as safety.
Clean the scooter with a damp cloth and gentle flow rather than directing high-pressure water at the battery, display, motor or connectors.
Charge with the supplied equipment
Use the charger intended for the scooter. Keep it ventilated and dry while charging. Do not cover it or place it on a surface that traps heat. If the plug, cable or charger becomes damaged or unusually hot, stop using it and contact service.

Note service dates, tyre changes and any gradual range change. A simple record helps technicians separate normal battery ageing from a tyre, brake or charging problem. It also makes warranty conversations clearer.
